High School Confirmation

By the sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized are more perfectly bound to the Church and are enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit and are, therefore, as true witnesses of Christ, challenged to spread and defend their Catholic faith by word and deed. Preparation for Confirmation is a two year program within the Youth Ministry Program of the parish.

Adults who have not been confirmed are prepared through participation in the RCIA or another special program. They may receive Confirmation from the Bishop at the annual parish celebration or from the Pastor at another time during the year.

In the Diocese of Corpus Christi, the usual age to receive the sacrament is between the ages 12-17. The ninth, tenth or eleventh grades seem to be an appropriate age for the reception of the Sacrament. Individuals who are 17 years of age or are in the twelfth grade should seek the sacrament through the RCIA program. The RCIA program is also available through St. Joseph Church.

Year I
Usually 9th Grade

Confirmation candidates in their first year of preparation must attend the Life Teen Program on Sundays with at least 95% attendance. It is expected that someone who is seeking to be confirmed has reached the point in their life when they take personal responsibility for attending weekly Mass. In fact, Mass attendance may be a good barometer for ones readiness for confirmation.

Year II

In order to be admitted into "Year II" of the Confirmation Program all candidates must first successfully complete "Year I".
